01:05 PM @ Tuesday - 11 August, 2026

On 10th August 2026 in Ninh Binh, a high-level delegation from the Republic of Uganda visited, worked with, and conducted on-site surveys at three member companies of Vietnam National Chemical Group (Vinachem): Ninh Binh Nitrogenous Fertilizer and Chemical Limited Company, Ninh Binh Phosphate Fertilizer Joint Stock Company, and Binh Dien – Ninh Binh Joint Stock Company.

The visit provided the Ugandan side with a direct opportunity to learn about Vinachem’s production capacity, product portfolio, and fertiliser supply capabilities, as well as to discuss cooperation opportunities and market expansion in Uganda and the East African region.

Uganda Interested in Fertiliser Supply from Vietnam

The Ugandan delegation was led by Dr. David Ogong, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, National Social Security Fund Uganda (NSSF), and Dr. Kenneth Omona, Principal Private Secretary to the President of Uganda.

The delegation also included representatives from Uganda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF), the Uganda High Commission, the Operation Wealth Creation Programme (OWC), and several businesses in agriculture and trade.

From Vinachem, Mr. Nguyễn Văn Luyện, Deputy General Director, along with representatives from the Business Planning Department, leaders of the three member companies, and specialists received and worked with the delegation.

During the meeting, the Ugandan side explored Vinachem’s production capabilities, technology, product quality, and fertiliser supply capacity. The delegation expressed particular interest in fertiliser products suited to Uganda’s agricultural needs, including those required for coffee cultivation.

Mr. Nguyễn Văn Luyện, Deputy General Director of Vinachem, addresses the meeting

Introducing Vinachem’s export operations, Mr. Nguyễn Văn Luyện stated: “Vinachem’s products are now present in over 70 countries and territories, including demanding markets such as the US, Japan, and European nations.”

Representatives of Vinachem and its member companies also presented their product range, production capacity, and ability to meet export market requirements. Both sides discussed market needs, product categories, and relevant supply conditions.

Surveying Production Capacity and Fertiliser Products

As part of the programme, the Ugandan delegation conducted on-site surveys at all three Vinachem member companies in Ninh Binh. At each unit, the visitors were introduced to production processes, product systems, operational capacity, and supply capabilities for both domestic and export markets. Delegation members examined various fertiliser products, quality standards, and the ability to meet the needs of the Ugandan market.

Surveying all three companies enabled the delegation to gain further insights into Vinachem’s product portfolio and production capabilities, including nitrogenous and phosphate fertilisers and other products suited to cultivation needs.

Through this survey, the Ugandan side acquired a clearer understanding of the supply potential of Vinachem’s member companies. This forms the basis for ongoing discussions about market needs, product categories, and necessary conditions for future cooperation.

A New Approach to the East African Market

Agriculture plays a major role in Uganda’s economy, with coffee being a principal export. Uganda is also a member of the East African Community (EAC), providing access to the regional market.

For Vinachem, direct engagement with the Ugandan high-level delegation at its production facilities offered the Group an opportunity to showcase its production capacity, product quality, and supply ability, while gaining practical insights into fertiliser demand in a new market.

Following the discussions and site surveys, Vinachem and its member companies will continue to study the Ugandan market’s needs, assess their own product supply capabilities, and address relevant conditions to gradually expand ties with partners in the country.

This visit contributes to Vinachem’s efforts to expand its reach into the East African market, in line with the Group’s strategy to diversify its markets and boost exports of fertilisers and chemicals.
