On 14 September 2026, in Hanoi, the Vietnam National Chemical Group (Vinachem) held discussions with Chimcomplex (Romania) to explore opportunities for investment, trade, and research cooperation in the chemical sector between the two countries.

The meeting was attended by Ms. Romila Cristina, Romanian Ambassador to Vietnam; Mr. Ștefan Vuza, Chairman of the Board and General Director of Chimcomplex; and representatives from the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam.

Representing Vinachem were Mr. Đào Trọng Cường, Deputy General Director; representatives from the Technical Division, Business Planning Division, Communications and Development Division; and representatives from Viet Tri Chemical Joint Stock Company and the Vietnam Institute of Industrial Chemistry.

Discussion on Potential Areas of Cooperation

At the meeting, both sides discussed their capacities, areas of operation, and strengths that could be combined in the chemical industry. Topics of interest included basic chemicals, fertilisers, tyre and tube products, batteries, materials, as well as high-tech and green technology products.

The two parties also discussed potential cooperation in research, product, and technology development, especially in fields where each side has strengths and needs. Connecting businesses and production units with research organisations was highlighted, enabling further technical exchanges and identification of areas for joint implementation.

Mr. Ștefan Vuza noted that Chimcomplex currently operates 27 chemical plants. Having studied the Vietnamese chemical sector and Vinachem’s activities, Chimcomplex sees numerous opportunities for cooperation, including the possibility of introducing advanced technologies into the chemicals and materials sector.

Mr. Ștefan Vuza suggested that both parties should engage in step-by-step discussions regarding goods, technology, and areas with potential for cooperation.

Exploring the Possibility of Bringing Vinachem’s Products to the EU Market

Trade was a key topic of discussion. Both parties examined the potential for importing certain Vinachem products into Romania, with a view to expanding into the EU market. Discussions also covered logistics, product requirements, and relevant regulations when entering the European market.

These aspects will be further clarified for each product group, market demand, and technical requirements, to identify products with the potential for distribution in Romania and the EU.

In addition to trade, the two sides discussed potential cooperation in investment, technology, and research, especially in advanced technologies, green technologies, and materials.

Assigning Focal Points for Further Discussions

In his remarks, Mr. Đào Trọng Cường, Deputy General Director of Vinachem, noted that there are suitable areas for further exploration, particularly in trade, technology, and research.

Mr. Đào Trọng Cường stated that Vinachem will appoint dedicated focal points to communicate directly with Chimcomplex, clarify each topic, and identify areas with cooperation potential.

He thanked Ms. Romila Cristina, Romanian Ambassador to Vietnam, for attending and supporting the connection, and expressed hope that the Ambassador would continue to serve as a bridge to promote investment, trade, and research cooperation between businesses and organisations of the two countries.

The meeting was an opportunity for Vinachem and Chimcomplex to discuss mutually interesting areas. On this basis, the designated focal points of both parties will continue to explore possibilities for cooperation in products, technology, research, and market development in the near future.
